There was for a time about half a century ago when science fiction writers and artists had envisioned the 21st century as a fantastical future. Certainly a far cry from our current woes in politics and the economy, people 50 years ago thought of the year 2000 the as this wondrous place where all this great technology existed and our world seemed to be a utopian wonderland with moving sidewalks and ... flying cars.
At the turn of this century our society should have been well ensconced with automobiles that fly like the one pictured on the left. Popular science fiction of the 50s and 60s described a typical car that someone would own or rent that had no visible means of flight but could simply lift off the ground. On the other end of the spectrum there was the notion of some fantastical looking vehicle was more like a spaceship on wheels.
Whatever version of the flying vehicle most are familiar with, it become clear that by the early 90s, the reality of what was once predicted was no closer than a device that could teleport you form one place to the next. Comments like, "Where are the flying cars, moon colonies, floating cities moving, sidewalks jetpacks?" became the mantra of comedians and anyone from the post WWII generation that grew up reading science fiction.
A Flying Car - Is it Practical?
Even if we had flying cars in 2008 would they be practical?
Considering the instability of gas prices one would have to assume that fuel for a personal airborne vehicle would have to be at least double the price of regular unleaded gas.
Regulation of the airways, speed limits and flying routes would seem to be a logistical nightmare. Imagine needing to have the level of sophistication that air traffic controllers use except for the millions of cars that currently exist.
Car dealers, auto transport companies and rental car companies would have to develop new systems and structures for sales, shipping costs and rental rates. Think about the new routine for picking up a rental car at the airport.
Would every legal aged driver have to get pilot licenses?
Is all Hope Lost for the Personal Air Vehicle?
Yes and no. Believe it or not there are companies out there trying to make this one time fantasy a reality. One such company, Terrafugia, has a working design called The Transition. This vehicle, with retractable wings is designed to carry two people on one tank of premium unleaded gas and will be geared for 100 - 500 mile jumps. As far as other details like how to drive it, how high off the ground it will actually "fly" and cargo room, the company has solutions for that as well. So technically with a 1/5 scale model and computer simulations, their flying car is - possible. Whether or not they'll actually make their debut in our time? That question will be answered around the time you order your first jetpack online.

Where Are My Flying Cars?
The Cost of Fixing a Hybrid
By. Brenda Williams
So you bought into all of the advertised benefits of owning a hybrid vehicle. You now feel like your carbon footprint is a little smaller and you have seen the benefits of saving money on gas after driving around your new fuel efficient car. But have you had to fix your hybrid yet? An even better question - how much will it cost to fix a hybrid? This is an issue that many new hybrid owners are now having deal primarily because of two reasons:
1. Hybrid parts are more complex and as a result are much more expensive to purchase.
2. They are more expensive to work on. Mechanics tasked to work on hybrids need special training which then trickles down to the customer in terms of the cost of labor. The mechanics of these vehicles it turns out are incredibly complex.
Hybrid Car Repair - This Isn't Your Father's Repair Shop
First and foremost you have at the core design of a hybrid car all the parts and mechanics of a conventional gas powered vehicle. Added to that are all the intricate elements designed to make this a hybrid vehicle. The simple task of moving a hybrid car from the lot into a vehicle shop could create an electrical charge that could actually shock the mechanic. The mechanic entering into the repair of one of these vehicles has to arm himself/herself with the knowledge of things like regenerative brakes, capacitors and a control system that combines electrical and gas propulsion. For mechanics at dealerships and car rental repair shops this is no longer a "pop the hood" situation.
Fixing A Hybrid - Parts, Labor and Apprehension
It's a common phrase heard in the repair shop, "Hybrid car repair is scary." What does that mean for the proud owner of one of these vehicles that feels like they're doing something better for the environment and for their wallets? It means that they should know that before being sold on the aforementioned benefits they should know things like:
Repair shops have to buy original equipment parts for hybrids and not the more affordable aftermarket stock parts.
And the hour charge is close to $100 in labor.
Ideally as these cars become more accessible to everyone and are sold and rented more then you will stand a better chance of seeing these costs decrease. Is there anything you can do to protect yourself from these expensive costs? Good insurance, even though it may seem like a costly protection can help offset those costs. Another benefit is that currently, hybrid cars are not ranking up heavy statistics in terms of breaking down. The most important things for hybrid owners and people interested in buying a fuel efficient vehicle know is that dealerships and rental car companies already know that currently they have to budget for higher costs in terms of repairing these new cars. Know what you're getting into, do your research and get all the facts on your particular hybrid so then when the time comes to actually get that repair, it you'll be prepared to the cost.
GPS and Cars - Finding Your Way Around
By. Brenda Williams
It used to be that if you couldn't find your destination you pulled into a gas station to ask the attendant, you bought a map and tried to navigate your way to your location or you called the venue and ask them for directions. Or if you believe in the male stereotype, you don't admit to being lost and use some sort of crazy intuition to find your way. The technology of today's vehicles gives motorists a new way to navigate called GPS (Global Positioning Systems)
How Do They Do That?
A properly installed GPS in a car can not only give the driver valuable, useful information but can also offer the best routes thanks to a built in digital map. If there isn't one installed in the car you have the option of purchasing a dashboard or portable GPS and for some folks they even have the option of using their phone. With the advent of GPS for cars, getting lost became a lot harder but it also gives the cars that offered GPS and bigger advantage from a selling and rental standpoint. So how does it work? Without getting too technical, you have 4 satellites in space and the unit itself has three segments which when combined allows these devices to clearly direct you down the right path.
How Do I Pick One?
If you're the type that likes having directions to places on hand then you want a new car or rental vehicle that has a built in GPS. For a more affordable solution there are GPS devices that plug into the cigarette lighter but may not be as intuitive as a built in version. When you take a look at the car's layout, figure out if it's a cumbersome or one that would work with the way you drive. Two of the most important elements of a good GPS are that it provides:
1. Multiple paths to your destination
2. Vocal direction and visual direction. You don't want to only have one option.
GPS is not flawless by any means but having a good navigation system in your car makes getting around that much easier.
Is Having GPS in a Car That Important?
That all depends on how often you travel on the road, and if you're always going to new locations that are unfamiliar with you. For a more generic application though you can map out your course or find your way back if your become lost. If your car gets stolen then an installed GPS can help police find your car. Some insurance companies even offer reduced rates for car owners who have GPS installed in their cars. So is it important to have GPS? Certainly the benefits are great and as vehicles begin to evolve, pre-installed GPS may become a standard feature. Until then, take your time to look at the functionality of the GPS system in the car you're looking at and if it works for you before making your final decision.
Mazda Motor Corporation
By. Brenda Williams
The Mazda Motor Corporation is an associate company of the Ford Motor Company and is headquartered in Fuchu, Aki, Hiroshima, Japan. A handful of Mazda vehicles have been rebadged and sold under the Ford name in the United States. The founder of the company is Jujiro Matsuda who founded Mazda in 1920. In 2007, Mazda manufactured close to 1.3 million vehicles for worldwide distribution. They employ close to 40,000 people and their revenue has reached almost $4 billion. Mazda has produced millions of vehicles since its founding in 1920 and has become a world power in vehicle manufacturing over the past two decades.
As with many businesses and car manufacturing companies, Mazda has changed its logo as the years have progressed. The very first logo for Mazda was designed and used from 1962-1975.
The company's second logo was used from 1991-1992:
From 1992-1997 the company's logo looked like this:
The company's current logo, which debuted in 1997, is this:
Mazda has produced more than 50 different models of cars since its inception in 1920 and one of its most popular models has been the Mazda Miata. The Miata was first developed in 1989 and is still being manufactured today. The Miata is in the Roadster class and is assembled in Hiroshima, Japan.
There are three generations of the Mazda Miata. The first generation was from 1989-1997, the second generation was from 1999-2005 and the third generation began in 2006 and is presently still developing vehicles. The Mazda Miata is available as a Roadster and as a Hardtop and the most recent models are available with 5-speed manual transmission, 6-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission.
Aside from their production of sports cars and compact cars, the Mazda Motor Corporation has also been trying to develop their own hybrid car for the past couple of decades. Towards the end of the 2008 calendar year Mazda is scheduled to release its very first hybrid vehicle. It is named the Premacy Hydrogen RE and it is a compact minivan. The first few prototypes of the vehicles have shown developers that it can travel up to 120 miles on hybrid energy.
Mazda, as with the majority of other vehicle manufacturing companies, has thrown its hand into the racing world as much as possible over the past few decades. Mazda first debuted in the racing world in 1968 when they competed in the Marathon de la Route. They entered two of the same vehicles, the Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S. The race lasted 84 consecutive hours and one of the vehicles finished in fourth place and the other lost an axle after the 81st hour of the competition. The Mazda Motor Corporation still races their sport vehicles today and have been racing continuously since their racing debut in 1968.
The Star Mazda Series is one of the most popular lines of racing cars manufactured by Mazda and is the most popular when it comes to sponsorships. This line of cars debuted for racing in 1991 and is a part of the Formula Mazda Racing team.
Car Insurance and Driving Under the Influence - not a Good Mix
Below, you'll learn more about how drunk driving can affect your car insurance policy and your rates. We'll also describe the purpose of an SR-22. Finally, we'll offer a few tips that you can use to get car insurance in the event you're caught driving under the influence.
The Purpose Of An SR-22
Driving under the influence carries significant consequences. You'll likely be required to file an SR-22 if you're caught and convicted of a DUI. In its simplest form, an SR-22 is a statement that validates that you have adequate car insurance coverage. An offender's suspended driver's license is usually returned when this statement is filed.
Most states (there are a few exceptions) legally require drivers who have received a DUI conviction to file an SR-22 with their local DMV. By charging much higher premiums, some car insurance carriers will offer special SR-22 coverage for "high risk" drivers. Other insurers do not offer insurance to "high risk" driver's and will typically cancel a "high risk" driver's policy.
Remaining Under The Radar
For years, there's a been a bit of a disconnect between the some court systems and some local departments of motor vehicles. DUI convictions are supposed to be delivered to the DMV that is located in the jurisdiction of the court. Sometimes, this fails to happen. A driver can in effect avoid filing an SR-22 if for some reason the DUI offense is not reported to the driver's local DMV. If this is the case, the driver's alcohol-related offense may not be discovered by his car insurance company. Though this happens quite frequently, many providers learn of a policyholder's DUI years later and raise the premiums accordingly.
Don't Wait To Shop Around
A common mistake among those who have been convicted of driving under the influence is waiting until their policy has been canceled before finding an alternative. If you find that your current insurer is canceling your policy, it may be because they have found about your DUI conviction. In that case, anticipate other providers discovering your DUI, too.
It's easier to find an insurer willing to offer an SR-22 insurance policy if you're already covered. Shop early while you still have coverage from your current carrier. If you find that the larger, established carriers are unwilling to insure you, check with the independent agents in your area.
Picking Up The Pieces And Planning Ahead
Driving under the influence can have a dramatic impact on your car insurance for several years. It can substantially increase your rates or cause your current provider to cancel your policy. Basically, a Driving Under the Influence conviction limits your options severely. But, don't let that dissuade you from shopping for car insurance. If the Department of Motor Vehicles has your DUI in their records, paying higher premiums for your policy is pretty much inevitable. But, the alternative - driving without coverage - can lead to hefty penalties, financial loss and even jail time.
While a DUI conviction may stay on your record for 10 years, auto insurance companies usually only use it for calculating your premium for about 3 years, sometimes less. Know your options, plan ahead and work toward putting the experience behind you. Read More......
Safer Driving at Night
By. David Williams
As dusk falls, so does our visual ability. Instead of bright, well-defined colors, sharp images and easy tracking of rapid movement, peripheral activity details and hues are indistinct and our ability to pick up rapid movement is greatly impaired.
At night we simply cannot trust our eyes and our vision to the extent we can in daylight - experts reckon at night we only see about a tenth of what we'd pick up in daylight.
What we see and what we don't
Our eyes are actually very good at dealing with a wide range of light intensities - from almost pitch dark through to strong light. But adjusting from one to another takes time. That's why the glare of headlights can pretty well blind you - and even hurt you - if your eyes have become used to the darkness of a quiet country lane.
When it's anything other than good daylight, we're constantly playing catch-up with the information we get from our eyes. That's a scientific fact - inevitably we're all slower to react at night. So as smart drivers we adjust our driving to deal with the restrictions placed on our vision, rather than expecting our eyes to achieve performance levels they're scientifically not capable of achieving.
So how come we see at all? Well, at night we are dependent upon artificial sources of light, and occasionally a contribution from bright moonlight.
The dangers
The first source of danger concerns what we can actually see. Danger can be the result of the restricted vision that occurs when it's dark - after all, 90 per cent of our ability to react depends on what we see. We also become more sensitive to bright lights and other distractions on the road ahead.
With these distractions, it pays to ensure we make a thorough job of planning a journey so we're not trying to read a map or hastily scribbled directions in poor light conditions. It also means we can devote our 100% attention to the driving task, as we know that road signs, vehicles, pedestrians and other hazards are that much harder to see when it's dark.
Driving tired
Fatigue is also a major risk. Not just the straightforward challenge of staying awake at a time when the body naturally wants to slow down and rest, but also the eye fatigue that can come with staring straight ahead for long periods.
One particular effect of fatigue is that it slows reaction times. We may pride ourselves on fast reactions when we're feeling wide awake and fit, but these inevitably slow down when we're tired.
More to the point, we may be in tip-top shape, but are we making enough allowance for other drivers who may have been awake - and at the wheel - for far too long a time?
Alcohol
Beware the effects of alcohol, not just in you but in other road users. It remains a significant factor in fatal road crashes. If you're out and about late on a Friday or Saturday night, be on the lookout for drunken pedestrians who may lurch into your path. And who's to know whether or not the driver behind you has had a drink? Reinforce your safety by thinking for others as well as for yourself.
Be seen
Remember, being seen as just as important as seeing. So don't leave it until well into twilight before you turn your lights on. Someone else's vision may not be quite so good as yours, so why run the risk of having someone run into you because they couldn't see you in time?
Tips for safe night-time driving
* Plan your journey. Think of your own physical limits and build in extra breaks if you have a long night-time drive. Reckon on at least 15 minutes every two hours.
* Check that the indicators, rear lights, brake lights, sidelights, headlights and main beams are all working properly. And have a spare set of bulbs in the car, just in case a bulb fails when you're out and about.
* Get into the habit of regularly cleaning your lights and windows: a regular wipe of your lights is an excellent idea, especially during extended periods of bad weather or in winter when you're likely to pick up mud and dirt. Don't let frost, ice or condensation place further restrictions on visibility.
* Be considerate with use of full beam. Don't use full beam in town, make sure you dip your headlights when you're behind someone else or when another vehicles is approaching from the other way.
* Have a dazzle policy - if you find you're being blinded by someone else's full beam and it's safe to do so, then slow down or even stop until they've gone by. Don't meet their full beam with full beam of your own. Don't match their mistake with similar actions of your own.
* Keep alert. It really pays to keep a good lookout for other road users. As we've seen, it's much harder to see them at night - even if they are wearing a fluorescent jacket. Pedestrians on country lanes without pavements, cyclists, revellers coming out of pubs or clubs at closing time... you'll often not see someone until you're really close to them.
* You need to increase gaps between yourself and the vehicle in front. Decrease your speed, increase the time and space you've got to stop safely. You won't be able to see hazards as early as you can in daylight, so make sure you compensate by building in extra time and space - and they both come from reducing your speed.
* Remember that at night the likelihood of someone else doing something to endanger you is of course greatly increased. It's usually at night that people drink, take drugs - or try and break into your car... and obviously pay special attention if you're on the road when the pubs or clubs are closing.
Saving Jobs by Saving General Motors
In liquidation, foreign companies will buy several of its most modern plants. Any assets will be bought for cents on the dollar. Most of its work force of white and blue collar workers will become unemployed. The ripple effect on suppliers, vendors, and customers will be ruinous. A liquidation will degenerate into a national depression.
Management has tried repeatedly to save this legendary company but did not have the vision, the capabilities, and the financial backup. The GM board has been the major cause for the slow death of this company. In the face of continuing losses, the board insisted on healthy quarterly dividends. Not making enough cash and paying out dividends is stumbling towards the abyss. Any sudden downturn in sales or in margins forces the company into insolvency.
GM's top management and its board made one fatal miscalculation; they gambled that Congress will never let GM go out of business. This gamble was not reckless. After all, US Congress had saved Chrysler a few decades back. When the US financial crisis was threatening world markets with a meltdown, US Congress supported rampant fraud and gambling in the financial industry on a grand style. AIG, one such gambling insurance company, was awarded a huge financial bailout package. The Big Three could continue their businesses for years with a similar gift.
For the last several decades, the automotive industry has been under constant attack by competition, by its investors, and by government. GM management was not capable of fending them off. GM lost a huge portion of its market share, investors looted its cash, and US government told the automotive industry how to design cars.
The ill advised meddling of US Government in matters of fuel efficiency and emissions has cost the automotive industry dearly. Huge amounts of research funds were spent in meeting marginally effective government regulations. US Congress deserves much blame for legislating very wasteful and very expensive solutions for previously unsolved, technical problems.
When Mr. Wagoner and his compatriots came to claim their bailout package, they were admonished by Congress for flying to Washington on corporate jets. For the first time, they may have understood that their future was much more precarious than they expected after watching the generous, incompetent, and ineffective bailout of the financial industry only a few weeks earlier.
After assigning blame, it is time to look at possible solutions. Liquidating General Motors will do huge harm at the most inopportune period in US economic history. It is unacceptable. Providing massive loans to GM is not the right solution, either. Instead, GM needs a complete reorganization, new management, a new board, new products, and a competitive pay and benefit structure for its white and blue collar workers.
Going through a bankruptcy proceeding is one viable approach. Unquestionably, bankruptcy is a tough way to go. GM's image will be blemished severely and future customers may be worried about car warranties and used car values. Future sales will certainly take a hit. Bankruptcy is time consuming and will damage the company and the crippled US economy further.
A better way is an offer by US government to purchase all assets of the company through a newly formed automotive corporation organized and financed by the government. GM stock is cheap. Its stock is worth two billion dollars; buying the company is feasible. The new company can agree to honor ongoing transactions, future product warranties can be issued and honored, pension obligations can be settled permanently, and the public would be assured of future product viability. A fresh, unrestrained startup would be guaranteed.
Additionally, US Congress must consider security and strategic aspects. Nobody else can muster the legislative and financial wherewithal for creating a critically needed, highly competitive, massive, new manufacturing entity. The wide range of existing products and production facilities and huge, sunken, irretrievable investments must be leveraged into creating a rejuvenated company that is lean, mean, and efficient. This company must be managed to rebuild stock value for a future recovery of government funds through sale of government held equity.
Above all, the new GM needs an infusion of capable management, cash, new products, and a board consisting of all new stakeholders in the company. Complete requisite sales, production, financial, and other management systems are in place and can be used for commencing business immediately. The company can become competitive quickly after a thorough cleansing of undeserved preferences, outdated policies, and inefficient practices.
The US cannot afford to lose the millions of manufacturing jobs that will result from a GM shutdown. There is no cheaper way to preserve and create jobs than by reorganizing the old, leaderless GM and hitting the ground running with a newly energized, innovative successor corporation. It would be insane to let a company with product lines like Corvette, Cadillac, and GMC go out of business. The costs and losses of a failure are incomparably larger than the amount of temporary, financial assistance for a reorganized, competitive successor company.
The US can ill afford another financial debacle while we are still watching with consternation and wonderment the mismanagement of the $700 billion congressional bailout attempt.
Saving GM will be good for the US, Ford, and Chrysler! Read More......
Online Car Insurance Benefits
If a person owns a car, he has to buy a car insurance which cannot be avoided because the law compels every car owner to possess car insurance. Earlier, it used to be the insurance agents who knock at the doors to offer insurances but now is the age of internet and with the click of a mouse, there are scores of car insurance quotes flooded on the screen, which makes a person go his head reeling.
It is now possible to get car insurance online at any time of the day- weekends or any time. Online car insurance has one added advantage. Since, there is a multitude of quotes, the consumer can conveniently compare the various quotes and decide the best option. The companies that appear on the internet give all the necessary information regarding the terms of policies, the premiums and even give the policy online without having to move an inch from the chair. Thus, online car insurance policies, whether they are bought for the first time or are replaced, offer a lot of benefits like cost savings, convenience, speed and better information from the spate of insurance providers.
It is enough if the consumer gets to know the various elements of car insurance and the different types of coverage that are offered like the liability insurance, collision, comprehensive insurance, uninsured or under insured and many more. The consumer has to keep the necessary information on hand, like the make and model of the car, name of the driver; the coverage needed, and if there is any policy already.
To strike the best deal, it is better to get at least three quotes from different companies since different companies have different quotes. It is advisable to select one of the companies and start searching the various options offered by them. Even the net compares and gives the various quotes, once the information is given. It should be ascertained whether there are any discounts available such as multi policy, anti lock brake system, anti theft devices, low mileage and many more.
The sites that are used by the car insurance companies use encryption technology and so the consumers need not have the fear that the information provided by them would be revealed. Also, they have privacy policies so that the details would not be released to others without the full consent of the consumer.
The credit of a person will not be affected by the car insurance if it is obtained online. Thus, online car insurance is a good way of saving money and getting a policy very rapidly in no time, without facing any difficulty. Even those who already possess policy can surf through the internet and find if they can get a better premium rate and save some money. All it needs is a click of the mouse, which is the easiest job.
Cheap Student Car Insurance Options
Students do have many reasons to spend a lot of money and it is unfair to burden them with a high cost of insurance premiums but nevertheless, the insurance companies justify their stand by saying that students tend to travel more and hence are liable to incur high car insurance costs. But the fact remains that the student car insurance cost is quite high and there are many ways to minimize this cost.
Primarily, a student can opt for a small car instead of a sports car to reduce the premium amount to be paid. There are many online insurers, who trade online and the biggest savings on student car insurance can be made by comparing the various quotes on different sites offered by different companies. There are brokers too, who help in this regard but charge a fee for it.
There are certain sites that work especially for students and young drivers and offer discounts and incentives to buy from them. The type of car insurance that the student has to take, has to be decided first and it is a good choice to take third party insurance. Comprehensive coverage is not recommended for students as the insurance prices would be too high.
If security devices are installed in the car, like wheel and steering locks and windows having registration, anti braking systems, air bags, reinforced safety belts and so on, then, the cost of student car insurance can be reduced. In fact, the place where the car is kept also influences the cost of student car insurance and it is better to mention in the application if the car is to be kept in the campus with security.
Students who have passed an extended and advanced driving course are eligible for a reduced premium than those who have passed only their driving test. This would fetch them an added discount of five percent till they reach the age of twenty five. There are online driver education courses that would cost only half the amount of offline classes.
Though it is a subject of argument , the fact remains that the student who does his or her academics well in school is less prone to get into a car accident and hence is offered a student discount -as much as twenty percent of the premium-depending upon the grades in school.
The insurance premium of car is priced according to what is known as risk profile of the geographic area, where the car will be driven. If the student possesses a good driving record, the chances are high that he gets a cheap car insurance. Also, having a high deductible would save on the premium and the deductible that suits the budget can be chosen.
A Guide to Find the Cheapest Car Insurance
Car insurance is a must for all those who own a car but the cost of insurance can be high, based on various factors. However, cheap car insurance is possible by taking a closer look at the elements that influence the cost of insurance and if steps are taken to reduce them.
It is a known fact that every car owner should possess a car insurance but it is not essential to cover all the add-on, offered by the company. Only the barest minimum that is required by the law, can be covered and thus save a lot of money on cheap car insurance. But the coverage may not be extensive but still, some bucks can be saved.
The insurance premium can be lowered by increasing the deductible. The deductible has to be paid first, before taking an insurance coverage. This cost would be negligible when the car owner has just afforded to buy a car. The deductible that is within the budget can be paid first, so that the monthly premium can be reduced.
To get the cheapest car insurance rates, it is absolutely necessary to have a good credit rate, by paying all the monthly bills on time because the credit rating plays a great role in acquiring the cheapest car insurance possible. The driving record also has to be good and if not, it would affect the premium to be paid.
Obviously, luxury and foreign cars carry more insurance cost than an ordinary small non sports car. A person who uses big cars cannot expect to have cheap car insurance. Another simple factor that affects the premium is the mileage, the lower the mileage the lesser is the car insurance quote. Women have the privilege of getting cheaper car insurance than their male counterparts because insurance service providers feel that men are more liable to meet with accidents than women. Women drive more carefully and cautiously than men.
Young drivers who get insurance for the first time, can also have cheap car insurance because they are cutting out the middlemen and thus the insurer passes on the savings to the consumer. Although it may sound strange, married men get cheap car insurance than those who are unmarried.
There is another way to get a cheap car insurance and that is to pay up- front fees for the policy. Monthly installments may appear cheaper but they carry interest on the payments. Adding break down cover to the policy also saves some amount in the long run and is cost effective
There are scores of websites that would offer car insurance quotes and the best can be had by doing a little research by spending a few minutes and giving all the necessary information. At least, three websites can be logged in to have an idea of the various quotes and get the cheapest possible offered by a company.
Tips to Get the Best Car Insurance Quotes
By. Adam Boulton
People who buy car insurance for the first time have a tough time in finding the best car insurance quote. There are certain basic components of car insurance and if they are made familiar, it would clear off the confusion.
Liability insurance is the coverage that insures the other driver, in case, an accident happens. It also covers property damages including automobiles and other properties. The medical expenses, lost wages, due to inability to attend work, pain and suffering are also covered under liability insurance. But the medical bills are not covered under liability insurance. In most of the states, liability insurance is made compulsory.
Collision coverage offers protection to the property and medical expenses due to an accident. Collision coverage would be helpful for car repair and replacements, if the owner of the vehicle is at fault and if the other party is at fault, his liability insurance would pay for the expenses.
Comprehensive coverage insures vehicle from damage due to flood, wind or hail storm as also if the vehicle has been stolen or vandalized. Medical coverage covers medical expenses in the event of an accident, irrespective of whoever is at fault.
Car insurance quote may also have add on that are optional which can be taken if it fits into the budget of the owner of the car, for instance, rental car reimbursement, roadside assistance, extended warranty and so on.
Car insurance quotes involve a lot of elements and the customer has to know the details to choose whichever suits him that works within the budget and needs. It is advisable to compare the various quotes offered by different companies and pin down on the best deal. Internet is a trusted source to find the various deals and it must be verified whether the information offered is free of cost, because some of the websites may charge a fee to access their site.
Almost all the insurance companies and some brokers run websites and give quotes for any profile and policy. It is good to visit the reputable sites because they are reliable and compare the quotes. To make the search easier, the same information should be put in all the sites visited so that the consumer is not misled. The sites do not get quotes from all insurance companies available, so it is better to go in for more number of reputable sites to strike the best deal.
But as is in every field, there are spams in car insurance quote too and therefore, a customer has to be very careful in identifying such spam before offering the e- mail address to get the car insurance quote. It is also possible to lower the quotes by getting as many quotes as possible.
Gm’s Simple Solution: Move Production to China
As it presently stands, the crisis unfolding in the North American automotive industry has the potential to shake the economies of the United States and Canada to their respective cores especially if General Motors or Chrysler goes bankrupt. For the moment, Ford looks as if they may be able to ride the storm out, but they’ll quickly sink if either company fails.
All three automakers have been scaling back on advertising, future product plans and releases, and various marketing schemes including GM’s recent announcement that they wouldn’t hold a press conference at next week’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Auto shows, especially ones the size and caliber of L.A., are perfect opportunities to introduce new models and concept vehicles to members of the press who, in turn, give the car companies plenty of free publicity. GM had planned to roll out the Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS coupe, and other models in L.A., but they’ve decided to wait until January when it is Detroit’s turn to host a show.

US, Canada, and Mexico Will Suffer
Should GM or even Chrysler fail, the reverberations would be felt throughout the industry, indeed across the many provinces, states, and small towns dotting Canada and the United States. Mexico, which is geographically part of North America, but separate as far as the auto industry is concerned would suffer too – there are enough Big Three factories in the United States of Mexico that our southern friends would experience massive lay offs, a mortal blow to any third world nation.
An even greater domino effect would kick in depending on how big the fall is. Chrysler, General Motors and Ford each use the same suppliers, but so do Toyota, Honda, and Nissan for their many North American built cars. Every single one of the 500,000 or so Toyota Camrys sold on this side of the Pacific are built right here – if key suppliers went under because the Big 3 (or a portion thereof) went down, the impact on the Japanese brands would be enormous. Subaru, Hyundai, Kia, and BMW are some of the other “foreign” brands with assembly lines here.
A Leading International Producer
One way for GM to gain some leverage in either obtaining federal assistance, union concessions, or both is to simply transfer some or all of its production overseas. A harsh move, but one that is bent on survival. Think of it: through 2007 General Motors sold more than 9.2 million cars worldwide. In the United States alone that number was about 3.5 million, leaving 5.7 million vehicles built beyond America. Though GM builds more vehicles elsewhere, the most profitable vehicles are sold in North America — big SUVs, trucks, and luxury cars that provide the bulk of GM’s profits.
In China, GM has been growing at an explosive rate where the Buick brand sells twice as many vehicles there as it does in the United States. General Motors is now the biggest producer of passenger vehicles in China, with more than one million vehicles produced in 2007 alone.
The Detroit News (AP) reported yesterday that GM is looking at raising its stake in one of its Chinese joint ventures. SAIC, Wuling Automobile, and General Motors have a separate manufacturing partnership in place (SAIC-GM-Wuling) where the company produces select GM models. As a side note, those cars aren’t counted in GM’s annual sales numbers, but if they were then GM would be ahead of Toyota in the global sales race.
Upping Its Stake In a Chinese Venture
Chinese state run newspapers are saying that GM is interested in increasing its 34% share in the joint venture perhaps buying out the 15.9% controlled by Wuling. Regardless of how it all plays out, either one of GM’s joint ventures or its wholly owned companies could expand production to start building some of the cars produced in North America and ship these models across the Pacific to sell in GM showrooms. GM would quickly extract itself of an impossible labor situation while telling the U.S. Government thanks, but no thanks, as they move production overseas.
Building cars in China would be much more profitable for the company as the automaker would have much lower labor costs which would more than cover the expense of shipping cars back to the U.S. American suppliers could still be used, at least for the short run, until Chinese auto suppliers took over. Sure, the logistics sound awful, but give it five years and the move could be done.Dumping the UAW and the CAW
Is this the direction I would like to see GM go? No, absolutely not. I can think of a myriad number of political reasons why this idea is terrible, one being our dependency on a communist country to supply our products (oops, too late for that!) Still, when your back is to the wall and you’re fighting for survival (or at least telling us you’re getting ready to be knocked down for the count) taking drastic measures may be the only thing at your disposal. In short, General Motors wants to sound the death knell to two problematic labor unions – the UAW and the CAW – unions whom they blame for at least a significant portion of their current woes. Certainly, GM management has to share some of that blame as does the federal (American) government whose ridiculous CAFE, safety, and anti-pollution requirements have put a tremendous drag on the auto industry.Ford’s Camry Killing Fusion Hybrid Rolls Out
Unlike General Motors and Chrysler which have chose not to hold press conferences at this year’s L.A. Auto Show, Ford is using the show as an opportunity to roll out several new models including the Ford Mustang, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion. The centerpiece of the automaker’s next generation Fusion and Milan is hybrid technology, a first for Ford’s popular mid-size sedans.
The hybrid model is the biggest newsmaker as the 2.5L engine (paired with a six-speed automatic transmission) gets class leading city fuel economy, what Ford says will be 6 mpg better than the comparable sized Toyota Camry Hybrid. If that assertion holds up, then the Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan Hybrid will return 39 mpg in the city based on the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid’s EPA certified fuel economy of 33 mpg. In other words, the Ford twins will have the best city fuel economy of any car on the road, even beating out the Smart ForTwo and any diesel or other hybrid model. For the driver who prefers something besides a gas-electric hybrid, the Ford twins offer three engine choices when the new models go on sale in Spring 2009: a 2.5L I4, 3.0L Flexfuel V6, and a 3.5L V6. Across the entire model line, six speed automatic transmissions are standard, helping to maximize fuel economy with these five passenger sedans. Ford says that this new combination will increase fuel economy by 17% with the base engine and 10% for the other engines, a trend in the right direction for an automaker scrambling to provide a much more fuel efficient fleet of passenger vehicles. Will the Fusion Hybrid be the death of the Toyota Camry? Not hardly. The Camry remains the best selling car in America with approximately 500,000 units sold in good years. However, Ford is making a strong case for buyers to consider the Fusion given that the Camry offers just a five-speed automatic transmission and its own hybrid now trails the Fusion in city fuel economy. For Ford, which is reeling under stiff financial pressure, the new models cannot come soon enough. Perhaps consumers will sit up and take notice that Ford is in the fuel savings game to win.Hyundai Categorically Rejects Chrysler Overture
Chrysler LLC, seeing that life as it knows it is slipping by, has been looking for a suitor over the past few months, preferably another automaker to take over its ailing operation. Owned by Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., of equity management fame, the country’s third largest automaker just can’t seem to find a suitable partner. And, it isn’t as if they haven’t been trying.
In September, Chrysler began formal talks with General Motors — one that Cerberus hoped would result in GM acquiring Chrysler while Cerberus gained the remaining shares of GMAC, the financing company jointly owned by GM and Cerberus. Those talks were stopped last week when it became apparent that GM’s own dire status had worsened significantly. In the middle of negotiating with GM, Chrysler sent out feelers to the Nissan-Renault partnership to see if there was any interest on the part of President and CEO Carlos Ghosn to acquire a stake in Chrysler, perhaps even the separate purchase of Jeep. Though Chrysler and Nissan had inked several strategic partnership deals throughout 2008, Ghosn turned down Chrysler’s proposition, choosing to continue with business as planned. Most recently, rumors of a Hyundai take over surfaced fueling talk that the world’s fifth largest automaker would make a bid for Chrysler. Already a significant shareholder of Kia and the fastest growing automaker in the world, a Chrysler conquest would have made Hyundai the third largest automaker, immediately behind Toyota and General Motors. But, Chrysler has learned that finding an automaker is one thing, but having them interested in you is entirely something different. Yesterday, Hyundai laid all rumors to rest by stating emphatically that they had their hands full expanding their own operation. Thus, the rapidly growing automaker from Seoul has decided to stay the course and let Chrysler fend for itself. At this point in the game deliverance for Chrysler will probably come in the form of a government bail out, even beyond the loan money already promised by the federal government. It’ll be a stopgap measure, one that could buy the automaker some time before reality sets in and the company finally goes under.Chrysler and General Motors might still be forced together shotgun style by the federal government, but that move will only delay the inevitable: government bankrolling of corporate mergers just doesn’t work, resulting in eventual dissolution or the taking over of assets by another company. A prime example of this sort of scenario is Penn Central which eventually morphed into Conrail before its assets were sold to a pair of private railroad operators.Could there still be a white knight in Chrysler’s future? Possibly, if that automaker is foreign based and the federal government sweetens the deal by basically handing over Chrysler (or Jeep alone) to a suitor. Neither Honda or Toyota are interested, but we still haven’t heard anything from Volkswagen.Fisker Automotive Announces Michigan Expansion
Simple math: Michigan plus the American car industry usually doesn’t add up to a net gain in jobs. With plant closings, cut backs, lay offs, and related language suggesting job loss, any sort of addition to the fast draining job pool should warm the heart especially in the state of Michigan which has seen its share of bad times lately.
Fisker Helps Michigan
Well, Fisker Automotive, the self-named “green car company” is in the process of reversing that trend, if you count a ripple of new jobs as being something to shout about. The car company, which will be releasing its all-electric Fisker Karma in late 2009, has opened an Engineering and Development Center in Pontiac, Michigan. The 34,000 square foot facility will be the home to some 200 designers and engineers who help to develop and produce the Karma.
“The available talent, supplier base and infrastructure in Michigan will help us reach our production goal,” said Fisker Automotive COO Bernhard Koehler. “While Fisker Automotive will continue to be headquartered in Irvine, California, the new facility will allow us the opportunity to collaborate with our Michigan supplier base and have everyone under one roof.”
Tesla Motors Loses Its Suit
The announcement by Fisker comes fresh on the heels of a recent arbitrator finding that the company did not steal confidential design information from rival Tesla Motors, Inc. Tesla had previously used Fisker’s design team to help the company develop a second model, a luxury all-electric sedan.
The Fisker Karma made its debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this past January and in April Tesla filed its suit. Because both parties agreed to binding arbitration, the suit has officially been dismissed.
Made In Finland
Earlier this year, Fisker Automotive came to terms with Finland’s Valmet Automotive who agreed to build the Fisker Karma on its own assembly line. The company is currently taking “pre-orders” for consumers who put down a $1000 deposit on the car. Shipment for those who place their order right now is expected to begin in the second half of 2010.
Vehicular Accidents: What to Do Before and After Collision
When minor vehicular accidents happen, involved car owners usually just end up blaming each other and overlook what should be done for future settlements. Aside from the possible injuries, accidents can be the worst nightmare if you don’t know what you have to do to save you from the headache after the scenario. Here are some steps which could help you regain control during a minor accident and remind you of what should be done for future claims.
Upon Collision
Stop your vehicle. It’s hard enough to lose control of your vehicle, but it can also be fatal for other motorists if you let the vehicle take control over you. Regain control of your vehicle and stop it from hitting others. In some countries, it is illegal to move the vehicle from the accident area, so try to warn the passing traffic by turning on the hazard lights.
Check the vehicle for dangerous damage. Gas leaks could turn any minor vehicular accident into a full-blown disaster. Turn the ignition off, go around the vehicle and check for any visible gas leaks or other things that could be as potentially dangerous.
Stay clear of the vehicle. You can’t afford more injuries, so it’s best to move away from it as soon as you have done the previous steps. Don’t linger too much on inspecting the vehicle; just check out the obvious and warn others who are involved of the damage which could also be harmful to them.
Check for injuries and call for medical services. After making sure that you are safe from further harm, check yourself for any injuries. Ask help to any willing motorist to call for medical help if you are suffering from minor injuries. It is also best to report the incident to the police which could help settle the damages and control the traffic caused by the accident.
After the collision
Exchange information with the other driver. Make sure that you get the real identity and contact information of the other driver by asking for a valid ID, or better yet, ask for their driver’s license. Ask for the names of any passengers. Ask for the number of driver’s insurance company as well as the coverage they have applied for. Take note of the vehicles make, model, year and license plate number.
Get witness statements. Ask people or passing motorists who are open to give witness statements to write down their name and telephone number. You can also ask them to leave a signed witness statement if they cannot wait for the police to arrive on the scene.
Speak with police and obtain a copy of police report. You and the other driver involved should be prepared to give personal accounts of the accident Use the witness statements to confirm your personal account. After all the statements have been gathered, ask the police where you can claim a copy of the police report. Cooperate with the police until they allow you to leave the scene.
Now what’s left to do is to contact the insurance company. If the other party is at fault, the claim process may be tedious but it is best to remain in contact with the insurance company until you have completed the settlement.
Nobody wants to get into a car accident. But as much as any driver would want avoid it, accidents do happen due to recklessness. Prepare yourself and lessen the troubles minor accidents can cause by keeping your mind in track and informed.

GPS vehicle tracking systems are a handy piece of technology that can provide a range of information and security benefits for users. After being fitted to a vehicle a tracking device is then able to emit signals via satellite systems, which can be viewed on computer screens with the aid of the Internet.
The implications of this type of technology are wide ranging for security services and anyone who needs to monitor information on vehicle movements. As an anti-theft device for a vehicle it is a huge leap forwards and similarly as a monitoring system for detailed vehicle movements there is not really a comparable precedent.
To be able to instantly locate a vehicle through a vehicle tracking system, and with some of the more sophisticated systems to be able to see on a computerised map its current movements, has until relatively recently been the stuff of James Bond films and the like. In recent years technology of this type has become available and affordable to everyone from individuals to security services and businesses.
As a system to increase the security of vehicles against theft it can be used to recover stolen vehicles or to demobilise a vehicle when not in use. At a simple level if a stolen vehicle needs to be found then a tracking device will allow the police, in tandem with the system providers, to discover exactly where the vehicle is. More sophisticated systems can allow a vehicle to be mobilised or demobilised remotely from a computer screen.
The systems involved in vehicle tracking range in sophistication with some now being able to provide an increasing range of information. The use of GPS tracking systems by businesses that own multiple vehicles is a fast growing area of the use of the technology. It is invaluable for a business to know instantly where those vehicles are, what they are doing and to some extent being able to control them remotely. The anti-theft security systems mentioned above are immensely useful, as some of the more sophisticated systems would allow a user to demobilise a fairly large number of vehicles remotely, thus protecting them from theft or any other unauthorised use.
In the realms of business efficiency, staff that are mobile and drive around have been impossible to monitor effectively until the advent of this type of GPS technology. Now businesses can directly observe driver habits including the efficiency of their working methods, whether they are wasting time or not and also in terms of the details of their actual driving. It is possible for example to see whether they are speeding or not. This type of information can both increase efficiency and productivity of staff as well as monitoring their safety and wellbeing.
To be able to gain information of the whereabouts of a vehicle at the tips of your fingers is clearly the main advantage of GPS technology. For those with in need of advanced vehicle security and/or for those with vehicle dependent businesses, GPS technology offers new possibilities of relieving old headaches associated with those areas.

With the sudden and dramatic rise in gas prices this year, it has brought home with stunning vividness the fact that it can be very expensive to enjoy the convenience and usefulness of owning a truck. However, many of us still need our trucks for work, family obligations, and for the necessary recreation that makes all the workaday drudgery we endure worth it. If you are a truck owner right now, then you need to get the absolute most out of that truck to not only increase its value with things like chrome grille inserts, but also expand the range of functions that it can perform. From heavy-duty shocks for driving off-road inaccessible areas, to high-intensity lamps for assistance while driving, the uses for additions to your vehicle are endless.
Even with all of the options offered by manufacturers that you can get from a dealer; there are still things that you might need that your dealer doesn't carry. Oftentimes dealer's prices are expensive and other retailers might be less expensive if you order them direct. However, you must do your research. Many experts have suggested that those in the market to purchase vehicles should research the pros and cons of buying base models vs. customization. While additions to your vehicle can modify your vehicle to fit your own unique, personal needs, it can also become costly. It can get addicting to add so many cool additions to your truck, so be sure you research what you truly want and what you truly need. Ask yourself, do I really need flashing lights on my truck? Or would I be better off buying a tonneau cover to help my gas efficiency? These questions are important.
You can also extend your truck's range with additional fuel tanks, fuel transfer tanks, cold air intakes and the like. With the addition of certain accessories for your truck, you don't have to settle for the low gas mileage that your truck has when it rolls off the assembly line. These days you can get a great deal on a truck just due to the simple fact that demand is low. You don't have to be picky about what extras the vehicle has. Get online and find those items that you call for instead of searching around for the perfect truck to fit your needs. In fact, given the wide range of products that are currently available, there is practically no end to the number of extras you can find that will make your truck so much more useful, beautiful, and efficient.
In the future more and more people will start to add those items that your dealer hasn't. Your truck won't just be your mode of transportation; it will also be your home-away-from-home on the road with expanded navigational, communication, and entertainment features. Automotive manufacturers are already looking at adding features like mini-refrigerators and microwaves to make it more convenient to travel in your truck, especially if you have to put in long hours at work or for those long distance trips to your favorite leisure destination. With the entertainment additions there is no more crying from the backseat are we there yet? Customizing your vehicle to become more efficient for your business or family will only get better as time progresses. Keep an eye out as new products are released.
If you're a pet owner, then you have a lot of items to choose from to make traveling with your dog or cat a lot more convenient and comfortable. Companies offer everything from dog and cat boxes to cargo liners and pet partitions, heavy duty floor mats and floor guards to help keep your pet safe and keep your truck clean for those times when your pet has an accident while traveling. The last thing you want is to be stuck re-carpeting or reupholstering your vehicle.
The benefits of truck accessories will remain constant year after year, but the important thing to remember is to get the right fit for you. Do your research and think through your investment. You'll ultimately have the truck you've been dreaming of.
Vehicle Tracking Systems Explained
The main use of vehicle tracking systems is to be able to identify quickly and easily the exact location of a vehicle. The technology has developed and expanded in recent years which means that the satellite systems that vehicle tracking relies upon can be accessed almost anywhere. The devices are used in a variety of ways, including as an addition to vehicle anti theft security and as a monitoring tool, which allows the monitor to track the movements and current whereabouts of any vehicle that is linked in to their system.
The anti-theft vehicle tracking systems are one of the more complicated versions 24 hours a day as part of the service. Essentially if a vehicle fitted with one of of the technology and normally needs to be manned by the supplying company these systems were stolen then it would be possible to track it as a result of the signal that the device sends out via satellite. The police in conjunction with the company that supplied the device would be able to see on a computer screen the whereabouts of the vehicle clearly making retrieval of the vehicle more likely before it is damaged or hidden and reused in some way. More advanced systems allow you to immobilise vehicles remotely to further enhance security.
Some of the more complex systems are based on the same basic principle but have a greater range of sophisticated applications, which can allow a monitor with access to the control centre exact ongoing information on the location and movements of a vehicle including what speed it is doing. The control centre from which vehicle movements can be observed is basically a computer screen. Monitoring information can be viewed on any computer or laptop anywhere so long as there is Internet access and the user has the necessary web information. This clearly has significant implications for how the technology can be used.
As well as its value to the police or other security services, the main users of the technology are vehicle dependant businesses for whom it can be very beneficial to be able to keep track of the whereabouts of a number of vehicles simultaneously. This allows the business owners or managers an ongoing and instant overview of how their business is running which is otherwise a much more difficult, time consuming and expensive process involving endless time on mobile phones. Employers can review overtime hours, taking waiting times into consideration.
There are a number of business advantages to the overview that vehicle tracking systems provide, particularly in relation to the efficiency of operations. The monitoring of driver habits will provide clarity on which staff are working most efficiently in terms of the routes they take and the stops they make; once this is noted quicker routes can be sought and unnecessary stops eliminated where necessary in order to reduce fuel costs and increase productivity. Knowing exactly who is where when also means that accurate information can be given to customers as to the whereabouts of the driver they are expecting, should they need to know.
The easy availability of technological monitoring systems is on the increase, and it would seem that there is little doubt that vehicle tracking systems will improve vehicle security and can be an invaluable source of information to vehicle dependent businesses on many levels. The levels of sophistication can vary so look at what features you actually need before you buy anything.

Offer Perks For Your Customers at Your Franchise
Becoming a franchise owner is a great opportunity to own and operate your own business. Franchises are usually more successful than independently started businesses since they have already worked out the bumps along the way and have a working system in place. However that does not mean that you will not have to do work to make your franchise successful. You may even have to put some new systems and promotions in place for your franchise. To get new business and keep the current business takes work, one way to do that is to offer perks to customers new and current at your franchise!
There are many different types of perks you can offer at your franchise business, but here are few to start with:
First you can offer a referral perk. This is great because it gets new business in your franchise and gives back the current customer too! Usually how a referral perk works is where if a current customer refers so many people or maybe even just one (whatever you feel appropriate for your franchise) to your franchise for work they will get something in return. It may be something free or even discounted, make it worth it! Also for this to work you must be provided great customer service and also great quality work or a quality product.
You may also want to offer a perk to certain groups of people. For example you could offer a senior discount for those over a certain age, military discounts are always good, or even to police, firefighters or other community workers as you choose. Usually this is like a 5% or 10% discount or maybe something free with the purchase of something else. Again it really depends on the type of franchise what you would offer. This is not only great for those individuals who meet those requirements but is shows that you are giving back to the community in some way which looks good and should make you feel good as well.
You may even offer a perk for companies who work with you in your area and support your efforts. You may offer their employees something or a discount. Or you may work with the other company to provide benefits to their member as well if they are interested in using your services.
You may even choose to have a perk as simple as having a stamp card perk. This usually works where they get a stamp per something they purchase or a stamp per purchase amount. For example you get a stamp for each ten dollars you spend or a stamp for each pre designated item purchased. This is great because the customers are spending money to get the stamps but they still get something in return.
All of these perk suggestions are great to incorporate into your franchise business. You just need to find what will work for your franchise and your customers. These suggestions can lead to more business for your franchise which will lead to a more successful franchise!

Where Can I Buy a Car From a Police Auction?
Are you seriously thinking about buying a new or used car? If you are in the market to purchase a car and have made the rounds to the local dealerships and used car lots but have been put off by the prices and pushy car salesmen then it might be a good time to consider finding your next car from a police auction.
Of course if you're like many people this raises the question, "where can I buy a car from a police auction?" That's a good question because these types of car auctions aren't generally heavily advertised. But if you know who to ask and where to look you can find really good deals on all makes and models of cars because most auctions are open to the general public.
If you have never attended a police auction before there is a good chance you know what one is. These types of auctions are held to help law enforcement agencies get rid of property that is seized due to criminal activities. There is simply no way that law enforcement agencies and police departments can maintain and store all the items they seize so they are auctioned off once they have been processed through the system.
There are many people who have successfully purchased a nearly new or used car at a police auction, usually at a large discount. It just comes down to finding out when and where these auctions are being held. Here are a few options to consider when looking for just such an auction.
If you are interested in local police auctions then it can be useful to check you local paper. The classified ads are a good place to start as many local police departments advertise their auction a week or so before the event takes place. If you live in a small town or city this tactic may not work because many small town police departments do not have the resources necessary to have an auction. In this case they may send their seized properties to larger cities where they are then auctioned off.
Probably your best option for finding a police auction is going online. The internet has revolutionized the way information can be found and police auto auctions are no different. Internet auction sites do a great job of not only finding police sales happening in your area but they also give you the chance to preview the vehicles that will be up for sale. In many cases you can also get maintenance and background reports on any cars you may interested in bidding on. This allows you to bid with the security that you know what kind of car you are getting.
And that's probably your best choice if you want to know where can I buy a car from a police auction. Go online and use the power of the internet to find the car you want at a price that nobody can beat.
